Strings from the thickest string to the thinnest string

Take out your guitar and examine the strings:
You see the groups E E, A B and D G.
The other way to memorize in groups: EAD and GBE.

Switch on the microphone. With your thumb, pluck the string.
1) Play 6th string, E note. 2) Play 5th string, A note.
3) Play 4th string, D note. 4) Play 3rd string, G note.
5) Play 2nd string, B note. 6) Play 1st string, E note.
When you hit the strings in the order mentioned, you should see smileys under the note annotations. Before plucking the next string, mute the previous one.
Here comes a tricky point. Guitar music is written an octave higher than piano music. In piano music the middle C is on the first ledger line below the treble staff. In guitar music the middle C is an octave higher on the third space of the treble staff. You can play piano music on a guitar and vice versa once you understand this.
